What's spinning on your turntables. I've been to some really sweet shows recently. Mainly: Modest Mouse and Bright Eyes. I've seen both these acts previously and they both have new amazing records out. Both shows were at a phenomenal theater in Seattle, the Paramount.
I'm fired up about picking up the new Wilco out tomorrow and the recently released post-dirtnap double Elliott Smith album.
Two CDs have been getting a ton of use from me in the Passat.
Kenny Chesney's "Be as You Are (songs from the big blue chair)" and REM's "Monster".
Kenny's getting me ready for the DR next week. Great chill out music, with zero commercialization. He didn't release any of the songs as singles. Just a guy playing the music he loves to play it.
Monster feels like such a return for REM to their IRS records days. What's the Frequency Kenneth got really overdone but Star69 and Crush with Eyeliner could have come off of Life's Rich Pageant.
The latest from the Ike Reilly Assassination is good. They are a Chicago band that sing about sex, drugs, and the Midwest. Ike Reilly is one of the best songwriters of today. Check out the audio in my profile to hear them.
